Indian cricket fraternity sends farewell wishes to Gautam Gambhir after his retirement

Gautam Gambhir last played for India in 2016.

Gautam Gambhir was the crisis man for the Indian team in all the three formatsFormer India opener Gautam Gambhir, on Tuesday, announced his retirement from all forms of the game.  The Delhi batsman will play his last match in the ongoing Ranji Trophy and call it a day afterwards.

Gambhir had made his India debut in ODIs in 2003 against Bangladesh and Tests in 2004 against Australia. He went on to play 58 Tests, making 4154 runs with 9 centuries and played 147 ODIs, making 5238 runs with 11 hundreds. He also played 37 T20Is, making 932 runs with 7 fifties.

Gambhir is well known for his two-brilliant innings in the finals of Team India’s two biggest triumphs in limited overs cricket in recent history. He made 75 in the finals of the 2007 World T20 and 97 in the finals of 2011 World Cup.

Gambhir played his last match for India, a Test against England in Rajkot in 2016.

Gambhir retires from the game with over 10,000 international runs for the country and a reputation of being the unsung hero of the team throughout his career.
