Joe Carter and Brett Hampton etched their names in the history book with a dazzling batting exhibition for Northern Districts against Central Districts in New Zealand's domestic one-day cricket match. The dynamic duo combined to smash 43 runs in an over to create new List A world record.

Central Districts medium pacer Willem Ludick was at the receiving end as he conceded 41 runs in the over beside bowling two no balls. In the over of 43 runs, Hampton hit 23 runs while Carter scored 18 runs off the last three deliveries.

Hampton began the over with a boundary and followed it up with two consecutive sixes off no balls. He struck another maximum before taking a single to give the strike to Carter, who made the most of the last three deliveries and slam three more sixes to take the tally of the 46th over to 43 runs.

With this herculean batting display, Carter and Hampton broke the previous record of 39 runs in an over in a List A match which was held by Zimbabwe's Elton Chigumbura.

Here’s the video:

While Carter went on to slam a terrific century (102 off 66 balls), Hampton scored 95 off 66 balls. Two fiery knocks helped Northern Districts to pile up 313/7 in 50 overs. In reply, Central Districts' batsman Dean Foxcroft's scored an unbeaten 120 but the innings went in vain as he didn’t get support from the other end and eventually ended up losing the match by 25 runs.
