Stokes was inconsolable after being smashed by Brathwaite in the final over of ICC World T20 2016

England’s ace all-rounder Ben Stokes on Sunday (November 4) recounted the horrific memories of 2016 World T20 final when he conceded four consecutive sixes against West Indies all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite to lose the summit clash.

During the first T20I between India and West Indies in Kolkata on Sunday, the visitors were tottering at 49/5 in 10.1 overs when their captain, Carlos Brathwaite, came to the crease.

Upon the Windies skipper’s arrival, the official Twitter account of IPL franchise Mumbai India tweeted: “The last time Carlos Brathwaite wore the Windies jersey at the Eden Gardens, he hit Stokes for 6,6,6,6 Remember the game?”

Ironically, Stokes quoted the tweet of Mumbai Indians and wrote: “Yep!!!!”

Stokes’ reaction on that tweet came as a surprise for the cricket fans since it is one of the most unpleasant moments of the Englishmen’s cricket career thus far.

It is worth mentioning here that Carlos Brathwaite had become an overnight star after his assault on Stokes in the big final. Needing 19 runs in the final over, Brathwaite had smashed Stokes for four successive sixes to seal the deal for Windies. After his triumphing stroke, renowned commentator Ian Bishop had said on air, "Remember the name, remember the name - it is Carlos Brathwaite!"
