Legendary wicketkeeper batsman MS Dhoni on Friday (October 26) was snubbed from India’s T20I squad for the home series against the West Indies and the upcoming assignment against Australia in Down Under next month. Dhoni’s absence from both the T20I squads came as a possible signal that the end is near for the 37-year-old in the shortest format.
Moreover, Dhoni’s form in ODI cricket is a huge cause of concern for Team India. In 2018, the veteran campaigner is averaging 25 in the 50-over format from 19 matches. No wonder, the pressure is immense on Dhoni to prove his critics wrong and retain his place in the Indian ODI squad for the all-important World Cup, slated to be held in England next year.
Amidst plenty of scrutinies, former Pakistan captain and renowned commentator Ramiz Raja has come out in support of Dhoni, saying that the World Cup winning India skipper still has a fighting spirit in him and the cricket fans are yet to see the last of him.
Ramiz also mentioned that Dhoni is a kind of individual who won’t let his greatness go so easily and thus he must have increased his practice hours and might be working on creating a new model of himself.
The former Pakistan batsman also urged the fans to have some patience as the new model of Dhoni might take 2-3 more months to be finally ready.
