India’s ODI vice-captain Rohit Sharma, who has shared plenty of memorable moments with Praveen Kumar during his early playing days, went all emotional on the veteran pacer’s retirement from all forms of cricket.

Praveen last played for India in 2012 and represented the country in 84 international matches. He made his ODI debut for India in 2007 against Pakistan, while his Test debut came four years later against the West Indies in Jamaica.

Taking to Twitter, Rohit recalled the fun and laughter with Praveen over the years. The Mumbaikar also gave a special mention to Kumar’s stellar bowling show in the second semi-final of CB series against Australia back in 2008.

“We almost started at the same time playing for the country, lots of fun, laugh and good cricket. I cannot forget his spell in CB series 2nd final, it was magical. To a brother, friend and a team mate have a good retirement buddy @praveenkumar” Sharma tweeted.

Praveen might not be seen in competitive cricket anymore but he will continue to play company cricket for ONGC and desires to become a bowling coach.

“I have decided to retire from cricket. The decision is not taken in haste, I gave a thought over it and I felt it was a right time to say goodbye to the sport which gave me so much. I want to thank my family, BCCI, UPCA, Rajeev (Shukla) sir for giving me the opportunity to fulfill my dreams,” Praveen told The Indian Express after his retirement on Saturday (October 20).

“I want to become a bowling coach. People know that I have this knowledge. I think it’s a area which I can work dil se, I can pass on this experience to the young ones,” he added.
