Hazratullah Zazai smacked six sixes in an over to equal the record for the fastest ever half-century in Twenty20 cricket on Sunday (October 14). Playing for Kabul Zwanan, Hazratullah notched up his 50 off just 12 balls against Balkh Legends in the ongoing Afghanistan Premier League at Sharjah Cricket Association Stadium.

Hazratullah’s herculean effort levelled the record held by India’s Yuvraj Singh, who has hit six sixes in an over off England speedster Stuart Broad during the inaugural World T20 in 2007, and Chris Gayle at Australia's Big Bash League in 2016.

Abdullah Mazari, a left-arm orthodox bowler, making his first appearance in the tournament was the victim of Hazratullah’s assault. The southpaw accumulated 37 runs from the first over off Mazari, which also included a wide. Zazai was eventually dismissed for a 17-ball 62. His innings was studded with 4 boundaries and 7 sixes.

With this achievement, Hazratullah also registered his name in the elite list of cricketers who have smashed six sixes in an over in any format of the game.
