Veteran Indian batsman Gautam Gambhir has been showered with good wishes from around the world, as he celebrates his 37th birthday on Sunday, October 14, 2018.
Having made his debut for India in the 2004 Border-Gavaskar Test against Australia, the left-hander has scored 4,154 runs at an average of 41.96 across 58 Tests for the country, so far.
It is in the limited overs game though, where he has carved out a real legacy for himself. Gambhir has amassed 5,238 ODI runs as well as 932 T20I runs for India but he is best remembered to have stood up on two of the biggest days in the Indian Cricket.
Gambhir scored an outstanding 75 in the final of the 2007 World T20 against Pakistan and then followed it up with a very solid 97 versus Sri Lanka in the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup title clash. He isn't talked about as much as he deserves for those invaluable contributions.
Gambhir can be proud to have left a mark on the game, even if he doesn't play another match for India.
