The fever of inaugural Afghanistan Premier League (APL) has gripped the cricket fans as some of the best T20 cricketers are featuring in the competition. Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi is one such eminent cricketer who is playing in the tournament for Paktia Panthers.

Afridi might be one of the best T20 players of all time but he is yet to make a mark in the ongoing APL. On Friday (October 12), the 38-year-old all-rounder departed for a two-ball duck against Kandahar Knights at the Sharjah Cricket Association Stadium, Sharjah in UAE. Following the dismissal, Afridi was mocked by Afghanistan skipper, Asghar Afghan, who had taken the catch.

During the 10th over of Panthers’ innings, Afridi was facing Waqar Salamkheil. With crowd expecting him to go berserk, the veteran campaigner shimmied down the track and mistimed the ball up in the air. Asghar kept an eye on the ball and ran back from cover to take the catch in the deep and then raised both his arms while facing the crowd. The Afghan captain’s gesture clearly suggests that he was mocking Afridi’s signature wicket-taking celebratory pose.

Here’s the video:

Afridi has struggled in the APL 2018 thus far, amassing the scores of 1, 19, 1*, and 0 in four innings. With the ball, he has claimed just two wickets in the tournament.
