The Indian U19 team made the country proud when it defeated Sri Lanka in the finals of the Youth Asia Cup 2018 at Mirpur, Dhaka.
Choosing to bat first on a typical Bangladeshi wicket, India put on a humongous 304/3 thanks to 85 from Yashasvi Jaiswal, 65 from captain Prabh Simran Singh and contribution from Ayush Badoni. Badoni and Prabh Simran took the Lankan bowlers to task with a 110-run partnership in just 55 balls in death overs.
With a stiff target in front of them, SL batsmen faltered in front of Indian spinners as only Nishan Madushka (49) and Navod Dinusri (48) managed to put up a score of substance. For India, spinner Harsh Tyagi ran through the Lankan batting lineup with figures of 6/38 and Lankans were bowled out for 160.
India won the match and the final by 144 runs to become 6-time champions of Asia.
The Indian cricket fraternity was elated by the job done by young colts and showered praises and love via Twitter.
