In the JLT Cup match between Queensland and Victoria, Victorian batsman and Australia’s international player Cameron White was welcomed to the crease by a vicious beamer from Queensland’s Billy Stanlake.
White had only faced four balls when Stanlake let go a sharp swinging full delivery aimed at the head of White, who took evasive action and was hurt on his shoulder. Stanlake is known for hitting speeds of over 150 kmph regularly.
The cricket.com.au commentators described the incident as scary and said, “It just slipped out of his hand, Billy Stanlake, and Cameron White has copped it. It was certainly dangerous.”
The 35-year-old White continued after the doctor cleared him, but it had completely rattled him, as he limped to a 35-ball 10.
