PM Modi urged celebrities to join the clean-up movement.

Ajinkya Rahane joins the movement initiated by PM Narendra Modi

India batsman Ajinkya Rahane on Saturday (September 15) pledged his support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s special initiative ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’. Just like many other celebrities, Rahane had received a special invite from the PM to become a part of this campaign last year.

Taking to Twitter, Rahane uploaded a photo of him in which he can be seen cleaning a beach. He captioned the image, stating: " Took part in the #SwachhataHiSevaMovement this morning and did my bit in helping clean a beach. A big thank you to Honourable PM @narendramodi ji for selecting me to take this movement forward. I request everyone to also take part in the #SHS2018 movement and make India clean.”

About a year ago, PM Modi wrote a personalized letter to celebrities, industrialists and noted personalities to support the initiative. In the letter, the honorable PM had cited Mahatma Gandhi’s beliefs and said that people in the country should participate in cleanliness campaigns.

Rahane recently toured England with the Indian cricket team. Known for having a stellar overseas record, Rahane had an underwhelming Test series in England. In five Tests, the right-hander managed to amass only 257 runs at a miserable average of 25.70.

Ajinkya Rahane was recently named the captain of Mumbai’s Vijay Hazare Trophy squad. He is not part of the Indian cricket team in the ongoing Asia Cup.
