One of the greatest batsman England ever produced, Alastair Cook batted for the last time in international cricket on Monday.

Not only Indian cricketers shook hands with Cook when he walked back to the pavilion for the last time, after the stumps of the fourth day in the last Test between India and England, he received a farewell gift from the media persons as well.

He was gifted 33 beer bottles by the media present at the press conference. Presenting the beer, a journalist said, "On behalf of all the media, we appreciate everything you have done as a player and captain for England over the years, particularly the way you dealt with us.

"There have been ups and downs but you dealt with us very professionally. We just want to show our appreciation for everything. We have got a little gift. You said to me once when we were out for a dinner that you are not really a wine drinker but you're a beer man, a larger man. So we got you 33 [beer bottles for you]. And on each beer, there's a little message from each member of the media."

Cook, who ends up with 12,472 runs at an average with 33 hundred and 57 fifties in 161 Tests, thanked the media present there and said, "Thank you very much, guys."

The last innings was a memorable one for the 33-year-old southpaw as he went on to become the fifth highest run-getter behind Sachin Tendulkar (15921), Ricky Ponting (13378), Jacques Kallis (13289) and Rahul Dravid (13288) in Test cricket.
