Cricket fraternity laud Vinesh Phogat as she became first Indian woman wrestler to win gold medal in Asian Games

Vinesh Phogat has rewritten the history books as she became the first Indian woman wrestler to win a gold medal at the Asian Games on Monday (August 20). Phogat overpowered her rivals with remarkable ease in the 50kg category.

Vinesh was expected to face stiff competition from Japan’s Yuki Irie in the final. However, Phogat outclassed her 6-2 in the final.

It was the second gold for Indian wrestlers in the 2018 Asia Games. On Monday, Bajrang Punia bagged the gold medal in the 65 kg freestyle wrestling event by beating Japan’s Daichi Takatani 11-8 in the final bout.

Vinesh’s victory has left everyone India proud of her achievements. Twitter is filled with congratulatory messages for the girl. India’s cricketing fraternity also took to the micro-blogging site to laud Phogat.
