Former India captain Sachin Tendulkar was present at Lord’s cricket ground to ring the bell to mark the start of play; where England and India were supposed to play the second Test of the five-match Pataudi trophy.

Having lost the first match at Birmingham by 31 runs, the Indian team seems ready and motivated to equalize the series at a ground where they had registered an inspirational win on the 2014 tour thanks to the exploits of Ajinkya Rahane, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Ishant Sharma. However, with persistent rain and a wet outfield, the first day was called off without the toss happening.

However, the official Lord’s Twitter account put up a video of Sachin Tendulkar speaking about the current Indian team and its leader Virat Kohli.

Sachin called Virat hungry for runs and exuberant. He said, “I think the hunger to score runs and never be satisfied. He is extremely expressive, exuberant, he is leading by example.”

Speaking about the team, Sachin remarked that, “I think the team that he is leading is a promising team I think. We have a nice blend of senior cricketers like Rohit Sharma, Shikhar, and all these guys, they’ve been around now for almost ten years. Then you have youngsters like Kuldeep Yadav and Bumrah, who have been around for two-three years. so it’s a nice combination of both.”
