Pakistani cricket fraternity congratulates Imran Khan as he emerges as leader in PM elections

Former Pakistani captain Imran Khan, who won the 1992 World Cup for the nation, is now almost confirmed to become the next Pakistani PM, His party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) emerges as the leading party in the general elections in Pakistan.

PTI’s Imran Khan defeated former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi by more than 48,500 votes in Islamabad 2 (NA-53) seat and he also won from Mianwali. A party can only form the government if it manages to clinch 172 seats in total. A single party will need at least 137 of the directly elected seats to be able to form the government on its own.

Imran Khan, who is looked upon with great respect in Pakistan, stood up as a PM alternative to PML-N’s Nawaz Sharif and Hafiz Saeed’s party. Imran also got support from Pakistani cricket fraternity especially his two protégés in Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis.

Pakistani cricketing fraternity applauded Imran Khan and his party’s reach towards win in the elections.
