Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir was a happy man on Twitter after Croatia defeated England in the FIFA World Cup 2018 semifinal. England was about to reach their first World Cup final since 1966, when Croatia scored in the overtime to send them crashing out of the tournament.

It was Mario Mandzukic who scored the winning goal in the 109th minute of the semi-finals for Croatia and sealed the game by 2-1.

Gambhir, who had shown his support for Croatia in mid-tournament, tweeted a pun after England crashed out of the tournament. "So it’s “Crushiaaaaa” for @England @FIFAcom @FIFAWorldCup," he wrote.

The India cricketer was eager to see his favorite team making history, and "Croatiaaaaaaaaaa let’s make history," he tweeted way before the game had started.

When Croatia won all three matches in group stage encounters, Gambhir was asked by a fan about his favorite team from FIFA World Cup 2018, to which he replied, "Croatia all through from the start."

In the group stage, the FIFA World Cup 2018 finalists beat Nigeria by 2-0, Argentina by 3-0 and Iceland 2-1.
