Indian cricket legends – Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev and Ravi Shastri – have come out in support of their teammate Madan Lal, who is contesting for the post of Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) President. The DDCA elections 2018 will be held on June 30.

In a series of videos posted by Madan Lal on his official Twitter page, Gavaskar, Kapil and Shastri can be seen urging the voters to elect the former India pacer, who boasts a very clean image.

Hi Madi Paa.. It is wonderful to know that you are standing for the election of the president t of the Delhi & District Cricket Association. That is really wonderful news because we all know what a genuine person you are. How much you love the game of cricket and how much you strive to do so much for junior cricketers as well,” Gavaskar said.

“I am so happy to know that you are going to contest election. Not only are your cricketing credentials such that you shoulder be elected but also the kind of human being you are. I think that the voters if they want a really clean and honest administration, they should vote for you. All the best Madi Paa,” he further added.

Expressing his support for Madan Lal, the great Kapil Dev said: “Madi Paa, Good Morning. I want to wish you all the good luck for your new inning, for election. We are always with you. You are my brother, my idol. I have grown up watching you and I want to wish you all the very best. With you all the time.”

Shastri, who is currently serving Indian cricket as a head coach, hailed Lal as the real legend of Delhi cricket.

“Madi Paa.. Good luck for the Delhi elections. You have been a true servant and a real legend of Delhi cricket. Best of luck,” Ravi said in his message.

The dates for the DDCA elections were declared last month by administrator Justice Vikramajit Sen, who also issued the directive that the polls will be held without the much-criticised proxy voting system.

The proxy system of voting which has been considered by many as the root cause of corruption in DDCA has been done away with as Justice Sen released an 11-point model of code of conduct for election of members of the executive committee.
