Veteran Indian opener Gautam Gambhir has come out in support of eminent journalist Rajat Sharma, who is contesting for the post of Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) President. The DDCA elections 2018 will be held on June 30.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Gambhir posted a video with a caption: “I see hope for Delhi cricket in this man @RajatSharmaLive”.

In the 38-second long clip, Gambhir said: “Mujhe lagta hai ki jo bhi teeno group mai sabse achcha candidate hai woh Rajat Sharma ji hai.. Ek to sabse clean image hai aur achche administrator hai” which means “I feel Rajat Sharma ji is the best possible candidate among the three groups. He has a very clean image and also is an exceptional administrator”.

“I am sure he will do a very good job given his clean image and experience. He is someone who should take this DDCA forward. I am sure people will support him because he is the first person after Arun Jaitley who possesses such a sound image,” he further added.

It is worth mentioning here that Gambhir is fairly vocal on social media concerning the issues in DDCA. Gauti often extends his support for the Delhi cricketers besides raising his voice about the corruption and nepotism in DDCA. He has played a vital role in the selection of pacer Navdeep Saini in Delhi’s first-class team despite selectors’ reservation.

Rajat Sharma's team consists of Rakesh Bansal who will fight for the post of Vice President, Vinod Tihara (Secretary), Om Prakash Sharma(Treasurer) and Rajan Manchanda (Joint Secretary).

The dates for the DDCA elections were declared last month by administrator Justice Vikramajit Sen, who also issued the directive that the polls will be held without the much-criticised proxy voting system.
