Yorkshire and Hampshire are battling it out in the Specsavers County Championship Division One match at The Rose Bowl, Southampton.

Yorkshire won the toss and decided to bat first in the day-night encounter. Their decision to do so came down to bite them when Fidel Edwards trapped Alex Lees LBW for a duck leaving Yorkshire 1/1. It soon became 10/2 as Dale Steyn proved that he was back to full fitness, as he dismissed Indian batsman Cheteshwar Pujara for a duck.

However, what stood out was the manner in which Pujara was dismissed. Cheteshwar Pujara was facing his 11th ball when Dale Steyn bowled a perfectly pitched length ball and Pujara lazily move forward to defend it. However, his bat came down late to the line of the ball and by then, the ball had demolished the off and middle stump and Pujara had to make his way back to the pavilion.

Here is the video of Steyn crushing Pujara’s defense:

Cheteshwar Pujara has struggled in his county stint so far in the longer format. This was the second time Steyn got him out, as Pujara was dismissed caught in slips in the Royal London One-Day Cup match between the two sides recently.

Pujara is playing his 5th match for Yorkshire in the championship and has managed to score 100 runs in 9 completed innings with an average of 11.11 and the highest score of 41. With the tour to England approaching fast, Pujara’s performance might be taken into consideration before the squad for the five-Test series is selected.
