ENG v AUS 2018: Sourav Ganguly ‘scared’ after England batsmen’s brutal assault on Australia

England batsmen pulverised the Australia bowling attack to post 481/6 in 50 overs at Trent Bridge on Tuesday.

Bairstow and Hales were the main destroyers with the bat

England broke their own world record for the highest ODI total as their batsmen pulverised the Australia bowling attack to post 481/6 in 50 overs at Trent Bridge, Nottingham on Tuesday (June 19). Jonny Bairstow (139 off 92 balls) and Alex Hales (147 off 92 balls) were the chief demolishers with the bat to secure a thumping 242-run victory and an unassailable 3-0 lead for England.

Following the England innings, former India skipper Sourav Ganguly has stated that he is ‘scared’ to have seen England amassing close to 500 against the current ODI World champions.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Ganguly posted a series of tweets in which he raised concerned about the health of the game.

Too see almost 500 runs scored in 50 overs in england is scaring me ..about the health of the game and where it’s going..Australian bowling getting treated this way whatever the conditions may be is not acceptable..A country of lillee, thompson, benaud,” Ganguly wrote in his first tweet.

This tweet was followed by three other tweets. However, Dada deleted all of them for some reasons and the tweets are not available on his official account anymore.

While defending the mammoth total, England rode on Adil Rashid’s awe-inspiring bowling performance (10-0-47-4) to bundle out the Aussies on 239 in 37 overs. Travis Head was the highest scorer for Australia with 51.

The fourth ODI between England and Australia will be played at the Chester-le-Street on Thursday (June 21).
