Rashid Khan has played in the guidance of Muralitharan for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL.

Rashid Khan, the Afghanistan leg-spinner, uncovers how Indian Premier League (IPL) helped him become a star and the bowler he is now. The T20 league helped him build confidence.

The teenager came on the famous talk show hosted by Gaurav Kapur, 'Breakfast with Champions'. Rashid said he was awake till 6 in the morning during the IPL auction in which he was sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The leggie was in Zimbabwe and he couldn't believe when the bid went to Rupees 4 crores. 

It was a life-changing moment for the Afghanistan cricketer. What helped him in the IPL was the coaching staff. Rashid revealed that former Sri Lankan legend Muttiah Muralitharan the youngster above him in talent. "You are ahead of me in terms of talent," Murali said.

One more unrevealed fact about Rashid is, he has experience of a teacher. The 19-year-old has taught English in his hometown.

The journey to become number one T20 bowler wasn't easy for the leg-spinner. His parents weren't supporting him initially and they wanted him to become a doctor. Rashid was good with studies in the 9th and 10th standard. But his love for cricket took over studies and he decided to continue as a cricketer. Seeing their son succeeding in the game, his parents supported him after he was picked for the national team.

The youngster idolized leg-spinner like Shahid Afridi and Anil Kumble because they were quick in the air, unlike Shane Warne.

Apart from cricket career, Rashid also talked about his personal life. He gave us a glimpse of how he spends his life with family in Nangarhar, Afghanistan.

Afghanistan is new to the cricket and they have seen a sudden rise because of dedicated and hard-working players like Rashid Khan. They made their Test debut against India at Bengaluru on June 14. It was a historic day for the team, however, the Test didn't turn out to be a memorable one with India dominating through the match.
