English fans were harsh on the Australian cricketers during their first ODI against England at the Oval. The handshake ahead of the game with England cricketers didn't stop the spectators from mocking the Aussies for the ball tampering scandal.
More than 5000 pieces of yellow sandpaper were being handed to fans on their way into the ground ahead of Australia’s opening one-day clash against the home team.
They were branded with “4” and “6” and more than 10 people stationed at various points around the ground in London were handing them to spectators, who were all too happy to get stuck into the visitors.
Former Australian cricket coach Darren Lehmann, who had to step down after the controversy, took to Twitter to express his disappointment over the sledging by fans.
He replied to a British journalist Alison Mitchell after she posted a photo of sandpaper "4" and "6" cards. "Your better than that @AlisonMitchell ?", wrote Lehmann.
