India Women and Pakistan Women squared off in the 13th match of the ongoing Women's Asia Cup T20 at the Kinrara Academy Oval, Kuala Lumpur on Saturday (June 9).

Electing to bat first, India rode on Ekta Bisht’s superb bowling performance (4-0-14-3) to restrict Pakistan to a mere 72/7 in 20 overs. Shikha Pandey, Anuja Patil, Deepti Sharma and Poonam Yadav also scalped wicket apiece. None of the Pakistan batswomen expect for Nahida Khan (18 runs off 27 balls) and Sana Mir (20 runs off 38 balls) managed to cross the double-digit mark.

In reply, India didn’t get an ideal start as Anam Amin removed both Mithali Raj and Deepti Sharma for a duck. The Women in Blue were tottering at 5 for 2 before opener Smriti Mandhana and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur’s 65-run partnership put them on brink of victory.

After Mandhana’s dismissal on 38, Harmanpreet (34 runs off 49 balls) along with Anuja Patil completed the formalities and saw the side home with 7 wickets in hand and 23 balls to spare. Ekta Bisht was deservedly named Man of the Match for her stellar bowling performance.

With this thumping victory, Harmanpreet Kaur and company also secured their place in the final of Women's Asia Cup and will take on Bangladesh in the summit clash on Sunday (June 10).

Twitterati were impressed to see the clinical show of Women in Blue from the very first ball of the match.
