India batsman Rohit Sharma on Sunday (May 27) came out in support of the Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius, whose horrendous mistakes against Real Madrid in the Champions League final on Saturday cost Reds the title.

Karius made a number of mistakes throughout the game. He gifted the opening goal to Real Madrid while attempting to pass the ball across Karim Benzema. The 24-year-old was also at fault for Real’s third goal when he fumbled in a speculative long-range effort from Gareth Bale.

After the final whistle, Karius was seen lying on the pitch with utter disappointment. He also apologized to Liverpool fans in the stadium with tears rolling down his face.

Rohit posted a video on Twitter that showed Karius walking up to the stand occupied by Liverpool fans. He can be seen asking for forgiveness for letting the Liverpool fans down.

“Huge admiration and respect for #LorisKarius and his brave gesture to the Liverpool fans after his error in yesterday’s game. Everyone makes mistakes but to accept it the way he did takes courage. This is what sport is and what it brings out ???? ✊ #UCLfinal” Rohit wrote in the caption of the video.
