AB de Villiers’ shocking retirement from international cricket on Wednesday (May 23) had taken the cricketing fraternity by storm. From the former cricketers to the contemporary ones, majority of them have congratulated the Proteas batting wizard for an outstanding career and also conveyed their best wishes to him for his future endeavours.

Surprisingly, De Villiers’ best buddy and his RCB skipper Virat Kohli hasn’t reacted on this news for the first two days. On Saturday (May 26), however, Kohli broke his silence and post a special message for AB.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Virat wrote: “Wish you all the best in everything that you do my brother. You’ve changed the way batting was seen in the time you’ve played international cricket. My best wishes to you and your family for this amazing journey ahead ???????? @ABdeVilliers17”.

It is worth mentioning here that Virat and De Villiers share a very good camaraderie. They are mutual admirers of each others’ skills and are part of the RCB dressing room since 2011. Over the years, the duo have dazzled the cricket fans with their jaw-dropping partnerships in IPL. AB and Kohli are the only batting pair to have shared two 200+ partnerships in Twenty20 cricket.
