Triggered by Carlos Braithwaite's late blitz (43 off 29), Sunrisers Hyderabad reached 139 for 7 at the end of their 20 overs after being sent into bat first. Sunrisers lost Shikhar Dhawan on the very first ball of their innings. Kane Williamson then showed promise to step up by scoring 24 but was dismissed down the leg side off Shardul Thakur in a rather unfortunate manner.
The Chennai bowlers then conjugated to dismiss the SRH middle order as Shakib Al Hasan, Manish Pandey and Yusuf Pathan failed to fire on the big night for the Sunrisers.
Each of the Chennai bowlers accounted for wickets as Ravindra Jadeja finished with the best figures of them all (1 for 13) in his spell.
Chennai now needs to score 140 to book a berth in the finale on Sunday.
Here is how Twitter reacted to the SRH innings:
This is the business end of the #IPL2018, so good luck to all the teams and hopefully some nail biting games.

A lot of short-pitched bowling from #CSK. Not a single boundary down the ground. #SRH a little clueless tonight....Thoda luck also deserted the #OrangeArmy #CSKvSRH #IPL

Williamson falls to Thakur. Not a wicket-taking delivery, but he's got the prized scalp. Hyderabad's middle order has been iffy all season. This won't be an easy night

You get the feeling that Dhoni packs six sets of clothes for a three day trip; so he's ready for the cold, for rain or for the heat. Today, Jadeja 4 overs for 13.

#CSK has made the sun set early for the Sunrisers this evening.
