Ramzan, the month of fasting in Islam, commenced on Thursday (May 17) after the moon was sighted on Wednesday night.
Considered as the most sacred month of the Islamic calendar, Ramzan is a time of contemplation, fortitude and worship. During this holy month, the believers of Islam all around the globe refrain from food and water and join mass prayers at mosques. They start their fasting from sunrise and keep it till sunset.
Fasting during Ramzan is deemed as one of the five pillars of Islam besides the declaration of faith, daily prayer, charity, and performing the hajj pilgrimage in Mecca. Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of this blessed month.
In order to make the occasional special, renowned cricketers from different parts of the world took to micro-blogging site Twitter and conveyed their heartfelt greetings.

Allah's blessings will always be on us. Celebrate and enjoy as once again, we will be given a chance to repent and ask for forgiveness for our sins and be forgiven.
