Ever imagined doubting Sachin Tendulkar's batting skills? Not possible, right? It is unthinkable. It was questioned by none other than Sachin himself. That too after just his first game. 

A 16-year-old boy, who is now regarded as the best batsman of his generation, was about to quit cricket after his first game, Sachin revealed in a talk show called Breakfast with Champions.

He said his first innings in Karachi against Pakistan in 1989 could have been his last as he felt completely out of place. Sachin believed he wasn't made for such a high level of cricket. 

“First innings of my life, in Karachi, I thought it would be my first and last innings. In the first match, I had no idea. Waqar (Younis) bowling from one end, Wasim (Akram) going full-throttle from the other. And they had just started reverse-ball. To go there and play suddenly, I was completely out of place," he said.

The owner of 100 international hundreds received advice from his experienced teammates in the dressing room to give himself time.

“I took advice from everyone in the dressing room and they told me to spend some more time on it. ‘This is international cricket. You’re playing possibly the best bowling attack in the world. Give them that respect.’ Second innings of my life, I scored 59 runs. I got back to the dressing room and looked at myself and said, ‘You’ve done it," Sachin said.

He proved himself wrong and that was his biggest win as an individual. This short anecdote from his life teaches a lot to youngsters. 

Later in the show, he also revealed how he changed as a person. The 45-year-old wasn't very punctual during early days in his career. He used to make his seniors wait. But his habit changed and he became more disciplined.

“Wasn’t so disciplined in the beginning but learned with time that 8 am does not mean 8.05 am. When your senior players waited for you in the bus while you were late, you had to become disciplined. But I developed a good habit out of it," Sachin said, who is the first men cricketer to score 200 runs in an ODI match.
