Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli might be breathing with ease after his bowlers showed character against Mumbai Indians (MI) on Tuesday night.

The day was special for Kohli as his wife Anushka Sharma was celebrating her 30th birthday. Kohli didn't disappoint her and successfully won the game. Anushka was present there in the stadium to cheer for his man and the team.

After RCB won the game, Anushka took Instagram to share a picture with her better half and thanked him for the special gift. "Best birthday with the bestest, kindest, bravest man in the world . Love you for making it so special my love ❤ !," she wrote.

In RCB and MI's clash, which was almost a virtual knockout, Bangalore stayed ahead thanks to their bowlers and fielders, who had let them down in previous games. No one would have thought RCB would turn out to be a winner in this game keeping their death bowling and sloppy fielding in mind. However, they shocked everyone with the discipline while defending 167.

MI found themselves 14 runs short of a victory. They will now have to win each and every game to stay in contention of Top 4 teams, which looks like a tough ask.

RCB began their defense on a perfect note when Tim Southee produced peach of a delivery to clean up MI opener Ishan Kishan for a first-ball duck in the first over. Umesh Yadav then picked up two wickets in successive deliveries including the scalp of MI captain Rohit Sharma (0) to put his team on top.

The wickets of Kieron Pollard (13) and JP Duminy (23) all but ended MI's hopes. However, Krunal Pandya and Hardik Pandya kept them in the chase with a partnership of 56.

But Krunal's lack of proper execution halted their progress with fewer boundaries and later his dismissal ensured that no more batsman steps up. Hardik scored a half-century but very much opposed to his reputation, even he couldn't launch big ones when needed.

Mohammed Siraj (2/28) and Southee (2/25) bowled excellently in the death overs to limit MI to 153.
