Earth Day 2018

Every year, April 22 is celebrated as the Earth Day, which is dedicated to spreading awareness about the pollution caused by plastic and the urgent need to stop using it.

The day was first celebrated in the United States in 1970. It was propounded by Gaylord Nelson, a US senator from Wisconsin, after he had witnessed the devastation caused by an enormous oil spill in Santa Barbara, California in 1969 and realised the implications of it.

At present over 192 countries celebrate the Earth Day.

The cricketers were also active in spreading their message on Earth Day via Twitter.
