Gautam Gambhir is set to lead Delhi Daredevils (DD) after leaving the Kolkata franchise in IPL 2018 which will kick-off from April 7. He is returning to the franchise after a gap of eight years.

Gambhir played for Kolkata from 2011 to 2017, more years than he represented his home team Delhi Daredevils (2008-2010). Now as he is back with Delhi, fans are excited to see the local boy leading DD to their first IPL triumph.

The 36-year-old was asked if he will celebrate after scoring a half-century against his former team Kolkata? Gambhir's answer was plain and simple. The left-handed batsman added that from deep inside he wanted to go back to his home team.

"Yes, I will surely raise my bat. I think as a professional cricketer, my job is to do well for Delhi. Home is where the heart is. I can't get a better feeling than playing for my home side. From deep inside I wanted to go back to Delhi," he said on sidelines of an event in Bangalore.

"It is a huge honor to once again captain DD. To get this responsibility is a way for me to give back to the sport in the city. I firmly believe that with the players currently involved we have the makings of a very good side," Gambhir had said after appointed as captain of DD.

Gambhir, who has scored 4,132 runs from 148 matches in his IPL career, was picked by the Delhi for Rs 2.8 crore.
