Former South African opener Herschelle Gibbs celebrates his 44^th birthday today. One of the most destructive batsmen in the world, Gibbs was the first batsman ever to hit six sixes in an over in international cricket.

He achieved the feat against Netherlands in the 2007 World Cup, when he hit spinner Dan van Bunge for six sixes in an over. Gibbs played 90 Tests, 23 T20Is and 243 ODIs for South Africa in a career spanning from 1996 to 2010.

Recently, Gibbs was in news when he took a jibe at Indian spinner R Ashwin’s tweet, commenting on his fielding. Ashwin came back at Gibbs with a personal comment on his involvement in match fixing saga and was criticized for doing so.

Gibbs thanked all the fans and followers who wished him on Twitter on his birthday with a tweet saying “Appreciate all the bday wishes people thanks so much those who choose to bring up my colour full past and mistakes,you not more human than I am  #onelifeliveit”

He was also wished by R Ashwin, who tweeted, “Many more happy returns of the day to @hershybru , have a good one.”

To which Gibbs gave a curt reply saying, “Thanks bud  have a good day”
