Today, the whole of India and many followers of Hinduism across the world are celebrating the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri.
Mahashivratri is celebrated as the day when Lord Shiva married goddess Parvati and it is celebrated on Krishna Paksha Chaturdashi, according to the Indian calendar. Lord Shiva performed his famous tandav dance on this day and it is also considered to be his favorite day.
