Former South Africa cricketer Jonty Rhodes set high fielding standards on the field during his playing days.

No wonder, any stunning fielding display on the field is often compared with that of Rhodes'. Recently, Vinay Kumar tried to pull off a 'Jonty' in the on-going Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy.

Vinay shared the video on his Twitter account. He tagged the South African and asked him to rate it. The run-out was similar to Inzamam-ul-Haq's run-out in the 1992 World Cup encounter between South Africa and Pakistan. Rhodes had dived in the air to destroy the stumps and send Inzamam back to the pavilion.

In the video shared by Vinay Kumar, he can be seen fielding at mid-off when he got the opportunity of a run-out, and having grabbed the ball; After Gurkeerat Singh had tapped Sreenath Aravind to mid-off, he set off for a single but there was hesitation and the Karnataka cricketer threw himself towards the wickets and took down at least two stumps to complete the run-out.

However, Karnataka went on to lose the clash in the one-over eliminator as Mandeep Singh, who had earlier scored a 29-ball 45 during Punjab’s chase of 159, struck a 4-ball 10 later on to power his side to a crucial win at the Jadavpur University Campus, second ground in Kolkata.

Vinay Kumar gathered a lot of praises on Twitter. He had captioned the video "Hi coach @JontyRhodes8 after watching your 1992 World Cup runout video many times, I was waiting for such opportunity. So, today I finally got it. How’s that coach ? ????"

On this, Rhodes responded and asked if he was old enough to watch him in 1992 World Cup? Vinay's response was genuine as he credited Youtube where he watched the iconic run-out. "That’s true. But thanks to YouTube ???? And a big thank you to you for being such an inspiration," he wrote.
