Kamlesh Nagarkoti, the 18 year old Rajasthan quick bowler made everyone sit up and take notice of his prodigious talent in India’s first match of the ICC U19 World Cup 2018 against Australia. Nagarkoti regularly clocked over 145 kmph, as he made the Australian batsmen hop and weave against true pace.

Born in Barmer, Rajasthan, Nagarkoti has played 6 List A matches for his state side and has performed with both bat and ball. He actually made a big splash in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2017 against Gujarat in a match at Chepauk.

Rajasthan had scored 183 in 47 overs and Nagarkoti had performed with the bat too, scoring 56* in 99 balls with 5 fours and 1 six. His innings took Rajasthan from 54/6 to the final score of 183.

Gujarat were cruising along at 152/5 despite Rajasthan captain Pankaj Singh taking 3/23 and Nathu Singh taking 2/31. With Gujarat needing 32 runs to win, Pankaj threw the ball to Kamlesh Nagarkoti in a final throw of the dice.

Nagarkoti bowled Rohit Dahiya for 1, and then bowled Chirag Parmar for a duck to bring Rajasthan back into the game. Jasprit Bumrah came to face the hat-trick from a rampaging Nagarkoti, walked across the stumps to cover them and was bowled behind his legs, as Nagarkoti became the first Rajasthan bowler to take a List-A hat-trick.

His 56* and 3/30 helped Rajasthan win the match by 14 runs.
