Today is the auspicious occasion of Lohri, as festival that is celebrated with lots of joy and happiness by followers of Sikhism and Hindus from the Punjab region. Lohri marks the end of winter season, and is a traditional welcome of longer days and sun's journey to the northern hemisphere.
It involves a parikrama around the bonfire and distribution of Prasad and sweets. This symbolizes a prayer to Agni, the spark of life, for abundant crops and prosperity.
The whole of the Indian cricket fraternity took to Twitter to wish people on the happy and joyful festival of Lohri.
