The Big Bash League saw its first obstruction of the field dismissal in a match between Hobart Hurricanes and Brisbane Heat.

Alex Ross, the Brisbane Heat player was the one to be adjudged out. Ross made 27 off 19 balls as his side succumbed to a 3-run defeat against Hobart Hurricanes. 

However, not all were pleased with the decision, including the batsman. It has sparked a debate, whether it was a correct judgment or not, as the batsman was taking evasive action and it didn't look intentional to the naked eye.

Opting to bat first, Hobart Hurricanes rode on D'Arcy Short's 122 off 69 balls to reach 179. Chasing the target, Heat saw this bizarre decision against them in Tymal Mills' over.

While Ross was coming back for the second run, he moved his eyes away from the ball in hurry of getting inside the crease safely. But, between all this, his bat diverted the ball at the keeper's end.

The third umpire's decision of sending him back to the pavilion shocked many, including the Australian wicket-keeper Adam Gilchrist. He said, "I'm stunned. I cannot believe that. I don't reckon he was obstructing the field at all."

Hurricanes' 3-run victory was possible because of Cameron Boyce who picked 2 for 23 and Jofra Archer, Daniel Christian and Short bagged a wicket each. Short's all-round performance helped him get the Man of the Match award.
