Steve Smith has amassed 491 runs in 4 Tests including an unbeaten 65 in the ongoing fourth Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Even his peers are impressed with Smith’s run making skills and one such admirer is India’s premier off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.

Ashwin had a brilliant battle with Smith when Australia had visited India earlier in the year for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2017.

Ashwin tweeted in tribute to Steve Smith saying “One day teams will need to talk to Steve Smith prior to a test match and settle down on a number that both parties agree upon. Insane Stuff #Ashes

He has hit two centuries in the series along with a career best 239 at WACA and has led from the front in the 3-0 Ashes lead against rivals England. His consistency so far in the year has been amazing as he collected 1127 runs in 10 Tests before the on-going MCG Test. He has hit four double hundreds in the year and became only the second batsman in Test history to score 1000 plus runs four times in four years.
