Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma, the newlywed couple confirmed the news of their wedding on Twitter. Twitter couldn't keep its calm after the couple shared the picture for their wedding with the same caption.

After days of speculation on their wedding plans, the confirmation brought happiness for their fans. They tied the knot in a private ceremony in Italy over the weekend.

Indian skipper had taken rest from a long tiring cricket season. Kohli, who guided India to 1-0 series win over Sri Lanka recently, had asked for a break from the Indian board ahead of the series against Sri Lanka.

After Zaheer Khan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Virat has now joined the list of married cricketers. Soon Hardik Pandya's brother Krunal Pandya will get featured on the list.

Virat and Anushka, who have been dating for many years after they met on the set of a shampoo commercial in 2013 posted the picture and wrote, "Today we have promised each other to be bound in love for ever. We are truly blessed to share the news with you.This beautiful day will be made more special with the love and support of our family of fans & well wishers. Thank you for being such an important part of our journey."

Virat and Anushka had flown off to Italy on December 8 with their families. While Anushka took off from Mumbai, on board a Swiss Air flight, along with her parents, brother Karnesh, Virat made a hasty exit from the Delhi airport.

Anushka's family priest, Maharaj Anant Baba of Anant Dham Atmabodh Ashram in Haridwar, also accompanied them to Europe.

Anushka will accompany Virat in South Africa.
