Richa Ghosh, who was part of India’s ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 winning team, was felicitated by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) in a function featuring the West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, CAB president Sourav Ganguly, and legendary cricketer Jhulan Goswami.
Richa had an excellent outing in the World Cup, scoring 235 runs in eight games at a strike rate of 133.52, including the highest score of 94 and a quick 34 in the final against South Africa.
At the felicitation ceremony, Richa was conferred the Banga Bhushan award, appointed as a Deputy Superintendent of Police, and presented a gold chain by the West Bengal government. The Cricket Association of Bengal, which organized the magnificent one-hour event at Eden Gardens, also presented her with a cheque of INR 34 lakh—INR 1 lakh for each run she made in the World Cup final.
CAB president Sourav Ganguly hailed the 22-year-old from Siliguri as Bengal’s pride and said, “Richa has made the state proud. I hope she continues her good work and one day captains the Indian women’s team.”
The CAB gave her a golden bat and ball, and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee personally handed over the Banga Bhushan medal, DSP appointment letter, and gold chain to tremendous ovation from fans and dignitaries.
