Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah on Saturday (July 10) confirmed that the rescheduled ODI series between India and Sri Lanka will kick-start on July 18.

The ODI series, which was set to get underway on July 13, has been rescheduled after COVID-19 cases in the home team's camp.

Sri Lanka's batting coach Grant Flower and data analyst G T Niroshan had tested positive for COVID-19 upon their return from the tour of England.

"The India-Sri Lanka ODI series will start on July 18 due to coronavirus cases in Sri Lanka camp," Shah told ANI.

As per the initial schedule, the three-match ODI series was scheduled to be played from July 13 to 18 followed by three T20Is from July 21 to 25.

Notably, the Sri Lankan contingent was slated to come out of quarantine and enter a bio-bubble on Friday (July 9) but the players have been forced to spend at least two more days in isolation.

Earlier, three England players and four support staff members contracted COVID-19. As a result, ECB revised their squad for the ongoing ODI series against Pakistan.

It is pertinent to note here that Sri Lanka last played against the same English squad. They toured England for three ODIs and T20Is each, suffering a clean sweep in both series.
