SA v IND 2021-22: Furious Twitterati bid farewell to Rahane & Pujara after another batting failure

Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara were dismissed cheaply in the second innings at Newlands.

Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara | GettyIndia's senior batters, Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara, once again failed to contribute as Team India found themselves in trouble during the second innings of the third Test against South Africa. They were four down on 58 runs in the morning session of Day 3 in Cape Town.

Pujara had scored 43 runs in the first innings, but he was dismissed on only 9 runs in the second innings. South Africa's lanky pacer Marco Jansen picked up his wicket in the 18th over of India's innings.

Rahane, who is going through a tough phase, had no answer to Kagiso Rabada's delivery as he was sent back in the next over. The former vice-captain scored only 1 run in the second innings, having scored only 9 in the first innings.

Twitterati were furious with the continuous letdown by the experienced batters. The fans bid farewell to the batting duo on Twitter, jokingly assuming that it would be the last Test match for Rahane and Pujara.

With series on the line, both the Indian batters were expected to support the batting line-up. India's dependence on their bowling attack to keep them alive in the game might not pay off every time.
