Vidarbha cricket team-led by Faiz Fazal made a stunning way to the final of the Ranji Trophy 2017-18 after beating Karnataka by 5 runs in the semi-finals of the tournament.

It will be the very first time when Vidarbha made it to the final of the premier First-Class cricket competition in India –Ranji Trophy, earlier they had the best performance in 2002-03 and 2011-12 when Vidarbha reached the semi-finals of the Ranji tournament of the Plate Group.

Vidarbha has a great chance to write their name in the history book when they will take on Delhi in the final of the 201-18 Ranji Trophy at Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore today.

Chandrakant Pandit – Vidarbha Coach, said winning maiden Ranji Title will be absolutely great for the Team and a great achievement for him as well, but the most important thing is that fill self-confidence in the budding cricketers in the region that they can also become champions, and he wants to do so during his tenure with Vidarbha.

Earlier, Pandit coached Mumbai side and led them to many titles.

Ahead of the Final encounter, Pandit told Hindustan Times, “I belong to a culture where the habit of winning matches was more. Of course, a final is a final. It’s an achievement for me with a team like this, who have shown tremendous faith in themselves to come forward.”

He further added, “It’s not all about winning this championship. The most important thing is future Vidarbha cricketers will start believing. That’ll be the happiest moment for me during my tenure here. Hopefully, the upcoming players will have their role models. And yes, Indian cricket will also flourish.”

On being asked if big-game pressure is a problem, Chandrakant concluded by saying, “We are just trying to follow our routine and looking at this as just another game. We would like to play hard cricket like we have done so far. We are confident of our abilities. Maybe, at the back of our mind, it’s a final, so it’s a different scenario. But it’ll all come down to how good we perform.”
