Ranji Trophy 2017-18: Ishant Sharma to miss Semi-final

Ishant Sharma – Skipper of the Delhi Ranji Team, is set to miss the semifinal of the season 2017-18 Ranji Trophy, which is scheduled to play against Bengal from 17 December in Pune.

On Thursday, the Delhi Team Management confirmed to PTI that Ishant Sharma sustained an ankle niggle during the final Test against Sri Lanka earlier this month in Delhi.

The lanky pacer took 20 wickets in four Ranji games this season, and definitely, Delhi would love to have the services of their regular skipper for the most crucial match against Bengal, which have already Test specialists Mohammed Shami and Wriddhiman Saha for the semi-final encounter.

The Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) has allowed all the Test regulars whose teams have qualified for the Ranji Trophy semi-finals to play for their respective domestic teams in order to get match-ready.

A Delhi Team Management member said, “Ishant has a slight ankle niggle and he would not like to aggravate his injury before the South Africa series. The Delhi team reached Pune this evening without Ishant.”
