IND v AUS 2022: 'Don’t like Rohit Sharma’s ultra-attacking approach, he's selling himself short'- Aakash Chopra

Rohit Sharma scored 11 runs with one four and one six in 1st T20I against Australia in Mohali.

Rohit Sharma I GettyIndia did not have a great start to their 3-match T20I series against Australia. After scoring 208/6 in the first innings courtesy of half-centuries from Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul, India could not prevent Australia from chasing down the target.

Though India put up a strong batting performance, it did not get a good start after losing two crucial wickets of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli early. Rohit was dismissed on just 11 as he tried to clear the boundary but got caught, while Kohli was caught for 2 runs trying to be aggressive from the go.

Former India opener Aakash Chopra seems unimpressed by the newfound ultra-attacking approach of Rohit Sharma right from the start.

He says that Rohit is selling himself short and has the ability to score a 75 if he plays 40 balls.

"I personally don't like Rohit Sharma's ultra-attacking approach. I don't like it for a reason. He is selling himself short. He is a very good cricketer, but if he tries to hit every ball for a six, he is eventually going to get out. If he bats for 40 balls, he will definitely score 75 runs. It's guaranteed. But is he giving himself that opportunity to bat that long? He is a special player and needs to take some time to get himself in," Aakash Chopra said in a video posted on his YouTube Channel.

Men in blue's captain Rohit has scored 434 runs in 18 T20I this year at an average of 35.52 and two half centuries. His capability to play long knocks has not been on display this year. His average for 2022 has been 25, way below his career average of 32.

The Indian Team is going to play the next game against the Aussies in the 2nd T20I in Nagpur on 23rd September 2022.
