Rohit signals for the keeper Dhoni to come out to bat at no.3

Rohit Sharma scored the joint fastest century in T20I off just 35 balls and along with KL Rahul’s 89, took India to a record total of 260/5.

The hero for India was captain Rohit Sharma, who struck 118 runs in 43 balls with 12 fours and 10 sixes. It was the fastest ton by any Indian in T20 cricket, beating Yusuf Pathan’s 37 ball century against Mumbai Indian in IPL 2010. Rohit became the first Indian captain to score a T20I century and it was his second T20I century, putting him in the list of batsmen with one or more centuries in T20Is. He joined the likes of Chris Gayle, Brendon McCullum, Colin Munro and Evin Lewis.

However, after he got out, trying to go all out for a double hundred; he immediately signaled towards the dressing room to send in the wicket keeper MS Dhoni to bat at no.3. Dhoni had last batted at no.3 in any format for India in an ODI in 2009 at Rajkot against Sri Lanka.

Rahul and Rohit added 165 runs for the first wicket- another record for India in T20Is.
