With the eight-wicket win in Rajkot on Thursday (November 7), India not only levelled the ongoing three-match T20I series against Bangladesh but also broke the record for the most number of successful run-chases in the shortest format of the game.

India has now had 41 wins amid the overall 61 times it has chased in T20Is, including also 18 losses and two no results. The record was previously held by Australia; chasing successfully on 40 out of 69 occasions.

Pakistan is third in the list with 36 wins from 67 matches while South Africa and England are joint-fourth with 28 wins each in chases.

India's former captain MS Dhoni, longstanding skipper Virat Kohli and deputy Rohit Sharma have been the three stand-out performers behind this great record.

While Kohli averages 111.50 in 25 successful run chases he has been a part of with 1,115 runs, Rohit has scored 849 runs at an average of 30.32 in 35 wins after fielding first that he has contributed in. He was at the forefront of the win in Rajkot with a blistering 43-ball 85.

Dhoni, who hasn't played any T20I for India since February 2019, also has a fantastic record in successful run-chases. He averages 72.50 at a strike-rate of 142.15 in 29 such games.

However, for the current Indian side, batting first and setting up the target has been an issue for long, as was evident against South Africa in Bangalore earlier this home season, and must be among the team management's major worries building up towards the next year's T20 World Cup in Australia.

The third and final T20I against Bangladesh will be played in Nagpur on Sunday (November 10).
