IND A v SA A 2019: Shubman Gill's 90 and Jalaj Saxena's 61* takes India to 303; SA A makes 125/5 in second innings

Shardul Thakur picked three wickets for IND-A | KCA The second day of the first unofficial Test between India A and South Africa A being played at the Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram, saw India A tightening their grip on the game.

India A resumed their innings from 129/2 but lost Bawane for his overnight score of 6. Shubman Gill batted superbly but was dismissed on 90 by Piedt. Shivam Dube and K Gowtham fell on single-digit scores, while KS Bharat (32) and Shardul Thakur (34) helped Jalaj Saxena (61*) push the Indian score to 303 runs.

Lungi Ngidi (3/50) and Dane Piedt (3/84) were the pick of the bowlers, while Lutho Simpala and Marco Jansen picked two wickets each. South Africa trailed India by 139 runs.

The visitors’ second innings continued from where it left in the first, with both openers Markram and Pieter Malan falling for four runs each. Nadeem then accounted for Zondo (10) and Muthuswamy for 4, leaving South Africa A 52/4. Zubayr Hamza scored a gritty 44, but Gowtham had him caught by Bhui.

Heinrich Klaasen remained not out on 35, with Mulder on 12 as South Africa ended the day on 125/5, trailing by 14 runs with 5 wickets in hand. Shahbaz Nadeem picked 2/13, while Siraj, Shardul, Gowtham picked one wicket each.
