The Global Canada T20 tournament 2018 was won by Vancouver Knights

The first global T20 tournament was held in 2018 in Canada under the banner of Cricket Canada and proved to be a success with many big names taking part in the tournament. The main objective of the tournament was to entice the Canadian crowds back to cricket and it was successful.

The participation of stars such as Steve Smith, David Warner, Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo, and David Miller ensured global viewership too and the crowd (and the viewers alike) was treated to some mouthwatering clashes. It was also a showcase of talents for the West Indies, as they fielded two teams by the name of West Indies and CWI B.

Given the wonderful matches that took place in the tournament, Team COC shortlists the top three highest team totals in the 2018 Global T20 Canada.

221/4 – West Indies B vs. Vancouver Knights

Sherfane RutherfordVancouver Knights had batted first and thanks to fifties from Chris Gayle and Chadwick Walton and contributions from Rassie van der Dussen, Babar Hyatt and Andre Russell put up a formidable 215/6 on the board. The West Indies B had a terrible start to their innings, leaving them 11/3 in 3 overs.

However, then came Sherfane Rutherford and he smacked the Knights’ bowlers to all parts of the Maple Leaf North-West Ground. Rutherford remained unbeaten on 134 with 11 fours and 10 sixes in 66 balls. Nicholas Pooran made 44 in 28 balls and West Indies B made 221/4 and won the match by six wickets on the last ball of the match.

Anton DevcichWell, the total that Vancouver Knights put in front of Nationals proved to be insufficient thanks to Anton Devcich’s 92* in 44 runs with 10 fours and 6 sixes. He was helped by Steve Smith’s 61 and captain Darren Sammy’s 22* in 10 balls, as Nationals romped home by six wickets with 4 balls to spare.
