Danielle Wyatt leads England Women to series winning 5-wkt win in second T20I

England women leads the series 2-0.

Katherine Brunt demolished Indian batting with 3 wickets | GettyThe T20I series between India women and England women has been a one-sided affair in favor of the visitors. England team has been aggressive in their intent to win the series after being whitewashed by Indian women in the 50-over format.

After winning the first T20I by a big margin of 41 runs, England team kept the pressure up in the second T20I match in Guwahati as well. England women won the toss and chose to chase. The Indian openers Mandhana and Deol came out with the intent of giving a good start and Mandhana started off well with 2 sixes in five balls and Deol made 14 in 21 balls, but then wickets started to tumble.

Mithali Raj made 20, Deepti Sharma and debutant Bharati Fulmali made 18 runs each, as Katherine Brunt picked 3/17 and Linsey Smith picked 2/11 and helped England keep India to just 111/8 in 20 overs. The England bowlers had a brilliant grip on Indian batting, who for the lack of power-hitters in the lineup, and missing someone like Harmanpreet Kaur, couldn’t manage to get out of the rut.

In reply, the Indian bowlers made a match out of it, with Ekta Bisht removing Sciver and Knight for 1 and 2 respectively; while Radha Yadav, Poonam Yadav and Deepti Sharma, picking up a wicket each, rattling the England middle order. However, opener Dannielle Wyatt anchored one end and scored an unbeaten 64 in 55 balls with 6 fours and found support in Lauren Winfield, who made 29 in 23 balls with four fours and added 47 important runs with her to take the team to the win.

England women reached the target in the final over and clinched an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the three-match T20I series. Danielle Wyatt was named the Player of the Match for her match-winning fifty.
